HVAC Repairs in Arlington, Ponder & Argyle, TX

Today, the Total Environmental Cooling and Heating team completed several HVAC service calls across Arlington, Ponder and Argyle, Texas. Our work included repairing a refrigerant leak, replacing an outdoor fan motor under warranty, diagnosing a 21-year-old Carrier Infinity system and investigating a reported propane odor.

Each call required a different solution, but they all demonstrated the value of accurate HVAC diagnostics before replacing expensive parts or equipment.

Carrier Refrigerant Leak Repair in Arlington, TX

Our first Arlington HVAC service call involved a refrigerant leak in a Carrier split-system air conditioner.



After inspecting the system, we located the leak at the outdoor unit. We recovered the refrigerant, repaired the leaking area and pressure-tested the system to check for additional leaks.

Once the repair passed our testing, we evacuated and recharged the air-conditioning system. We then checked its operation and confirmed that the Carrier unit was cooling properly before leaving the property.

Finding and repairing the source of a refrigerant leak is important. Simply adding refrigerant without addressing the leak is only a temporary solution and can lead to continued performance problems.

Outdoor Fan Motor Replacement Under Warranty in Arlington

Our second Arlington service call involved an outdoor condenser fan motor that had been damaged during an attempted homeowner repair.



Fortunately, the motor was still covered by the manufacturer’s parts warranty. We replaced the failed condenser fan motor and restored the system to operation. Because the replacement motor qualified for warranty coverage, the customer was responsible only for the labor required to diagnose and complete the repair.

Manufacturer warranties can provide valuable protection, but they generally cover the replacement part rather than diagnostic charges, labor, refrigerant or other materials associated with the repair.

If your HVAC equipment is still under warranty, it is worth checking the warranty status before purchasing replacement parts.

Second Opinion Saves a 21-Year-Old Carrier Infinity System in Ponder

We also traveled to Ponder, Texas, to inspect a 21-year-old Carrier Infinity air-conditioning system. The unit was equipped with an obsolete two-stage Bristol compressor.



The homeowner had reportedly been told by another HVAC contractor that the system could not be repaired because the compressor and related parts were obsolete. However, our diagnostic testing showed that the compressor was still in good operating condition.

The actual problem was a failed start capacitor.

We replaced the capacitor, tested the system and confirmed that the air conditioner was cooling properly before we left. The customer did not need a compressor replacement or a complete HVAC system replacement to restore cooling.



Older HVAC systems should eventually be evaluated for replacement, especially when major components are obsolete. However, the age of a system does not automatically mean it cannot be repaired. A thorough diagnosis can sometimes identify a practical and affordable solution that keeps the equipment operating.

Propane Leak Inspection in Argyle, TX

Our final service call took us to Argyle, Texas, where a customer was concerned about a possible propane leak.

Although Total Environmental Cooling and Heating is not a plumbing company, we had installed the gas furnaces serving the home. We returned to inspect our work and confirm that the furnace gas connections were secure.

We performed a gas leak search on the accessible fittings associated with the furnaces in the attic. We did not detect a leak at any of the fittings we tested.

Because propane can be dangerous, a suspected gas leak should always be taken seriously. If a propane odor continues, occupants should avoid flames or anything that could create a spark, leave the affected area and contact their propane provider, fire department or a licensed plumbing professional for additional testing.

Accurate HVAC Diagnostics Across North Texas

Today’s calls showed why proper troubleshooting matters. One customer needed a refrigerant leak repaired. Another received a replacement fan motor under the manufacturer’s warranty. A third avoided an unnecessary compressor or system replacement after we found that a relatively small electrical component was causing the problem.
